Our Mission
About Justina
I’m the creator of Smart Brown Girl, a platform dedicated to preserving Black history with clarity and context.
For over a decade, I’ve worked in leadership roles and built in different spaces, which helped me understand systems, decision-making, and power in practice. That experience informs how I approach history, not as something distant, but as something that continues to shape everyday life.
My work focuses on documenting and explaining Black history in a way that connects past decisions to present realities. I look at how systems were built, who they were built for, and why certain outcomes continue to repeat.
I created this platform because too many stories are incomplete, oversimplified, or missing entirely. My goal is to preserve what matters, clearly and intentionally, so it can’t be ignored or rewritten later.
This platform exists to document, explain, and archive. Not just what happened, but why it happened and who it affected.
Because history isn’t just something to remember. It’s something that continues to shape us.

Our Story
Where buried Black history comes to light.
This blog is a growing archive of untold African American stories—erasured heroes, hidden truths, and the patterns of resistance they hoped we’d forget. Each post dives deep into the moments missing from textbooks but crucial to understanding where we are today.
